YOU WILL HAVE THE CHANCE TO PLAY THESE CHAMPIONSHIP GOLF COURSES

Pinehurst No. 1

Pinehurst No. 1

This 6,093-yard gem opened in 1898 and is a favorite among Pinehurst members as a great “walk in the park” on a Sunday afternoon. The course was renovated by the great Donald Ross in 1901 and bears his signature characteristics, using the gentle role of the land to create challenge and variety. More recent renovations in 2008 have improved playing conditions with more heat-resistant grass strains, new irrigation system and greens rebuilt to USGA specifications.

Pinehurst No. 2

Pinehurst No. 2

This championship course needs no introduction: more single golf championships have been played here than any other course in America. From the 1901 North and South and 1936 PGA Championship to the 2008 U.S. Amateur and many U.S. Opens including the upcoming 2014 US Open, No. 2 has tested golf legends for over 100 years. Relatively flat with wide fairways from the tee, No. 2’s test surrounds its challenging green complexes, turtleback-shaped. Donald Ross proclaimed the course his masterpiece, “the fairest test of golf I ever designed” when it opened in 1907. Remember the first 104 players who sign up will play Pinehurst No. 2 TWICE!!!

Pinehurst No. 4

Pinehurst No. 4

Dubbed “The Tribute” when Tom Fazio redesigned it in 2000, No. 4 pays homage to Donald Ross’ original routing of this classic course. One of the most picturesque on property, this championship course will serve as the co-site of the 2008 U.S. Amateur, giving it much deserved recognition as one of the most challenging designs on property.

Pinehurst No. 7

Pinehurst No. 7

Designed by Rees Jones in 1986, No. 7 provides one of the biggest challenges among the Pinehurst set. A long course measuring 7,216 yards, No. 7 is situated on rugged terrain, with more up and down feel than any other on property. The course was renovated in 2002 and now features the same G-2 bent grass found on all eight Pinehurst courses. Rees’ Fingers and Devil’s Gut are among the names of its individual golf holes. This course will be played by the lucky few who will play in the VIP Sponsor outing on Monday October 26, 2009 with Fred Couples or Nick Faldo.

Pinehurst No. 8

Pinehurst No. 8

Called the Centennial Course to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Pinehurst, Tom Fazio designed this course in 1996 on one of the most naturally beautiful landscapes in the region. The original location of the Pinehurst Gun Club, it embraces the natural wetlands dotted throughout the course and is an Audubon Signature Sanctuary. The second favorite among Pinehurst guests, it allows only resort play, is long at 7,092 yards, and was the site of the 1997 and 1998 Club Pro Championships. This course will be played by the two amateurs that win their respective divisions and who will play against Fred Couples or Nick Faldo, in match play, with the benefit of their handicap, on Tuesday, October 27, 2009.
